Meet our Board of Directors

MEMBERS OF MCCA'S BOARD OF DIRECTORS ALL SERVE IN A VOLUNTEER CAPACITY.
THEY ARE NOT COMPENSATED FOR THEIR TIME AND COMMITMENT.

Paul Vela

President

Paul started riding along in 2006 on a dare. After his first trip he was hooked. In 2009 he joined the board and began running the social media for MCCA. After 2 years as Vice President, Paul humbly accepted the call to be President. His vision is to see MCCA continues to answer God's call to be His hands and His feet.

Charles Shinski

Vice President

Charles heard the the call from God to spread his love to the orphans in Mexico and it has been a blessing in his life to be His servant. Charles says it's overwhelming to see the joy on the children’s faces when the MCCA trucks pull up to unload. He also enjoys being able to fellowship and build relationships with the other volunteers on the trips as well.

Steve Diaz

Treasurer

If you ask Steve he'll tell you he feels that he is still a rookie when seeing the time others have put into the ministry. He humbly answers God's call to serve in whatever capacity is necessary.

Don Dresner

Secretary

Don is amazed that so many volunteers have been serving MCCA so faithfully for so many years. He loves the fellowship on each trip. Don's prayer is that he gets to continue to volunteer for many years to come.

Jim & Helen Babcock

Volunteers since 1991

Both Jim and Helen love being part of the MCCA family and helping with the Mission. Throughout the years they have brought their children on the trips, now their grandchildren as well. They are amazed how faith and the Lord have provided for MCCA, the children, and all those involved.

Bert Block

Volunteer since 1972

While his first trip was in 1972, he's been more closely involved since 2000. His bilingual talents have brought many blessing on the trips. His goal is to let the Lord use him wherever possible. Bert loves to be part of MCCA, is happy to be a board member, and looks forward to many more years of serving.

Tom Rasmuusen

Volunteer since 2008

Tom found out about MCCA after reading an article in one of the local newspapers. He was a long time driver before joining the board. He sold his truck and moved but now that he is back and has returned to serve however he can.

Rich DeWitt

Volunteer since 1985

Rich has been faithfully serving MCCA since he was a kid himself. Joining the board in 1985, Rich has served as very officer position. No matter how many years have gone by, Rich says he still gets the goosebumps before every trip.

Elliott Duchon

Volunteer since 2010

Initially rode along on a couple trips with his friend Tom [Rasmussen] and that is all it took. Soon he found himself buying a truck and has been driving for MCCA ever since. Elliott looks forward to the trips and the time we spend with one another. Also, he says the tacos are sublime.

Larry Feenstra

Volunteer since 1998

Larry started his MCCA career riding with Rich DeWitt. He drove for Ralph Porter once before getting his own truck. Like many newbies at the time, he was relegated to the "short run," which he learned from Ed O'Brien and Bob Yeckley. After a few years he got called up to do the "long run." Larry recalls a lot of good memories and looks forward to making more wonderful memories.

Chris Glaze

Volunteer since 2010

Chris has a huge heart for those we serve south of the border. Using his contacts from a lifetime in business, he has a unique way of getting goodies donated to MCCA, such as stuffed animals and pajamas, that will then get distributed. Chris has been faithfully riding with Rich for the past few years and looks forward to many more years of riding "shotgun."

Fred Jacobs

Volunteer since 1995

Fred broke the mold on what an MCCA vehicle is. First by driving a VW van with a Porche engine and then a 15 passenger van pulling a trailer. Fred has introduced many to MCCA and his heart is still close to the mission. Fred has served as Vice President and President of the board, 2002-2005 and 2006-2008, respectively.

Ron Koning

Volunteer since 1979

God placed MCCA and the desire to help the orphans so close to our borders on Ron's heart from an early age. Life's business got the better of Ron for a while but as he was driving out of town to go on vacation he passed MCCA trucks going down on the trip. Ron felt God lay on his heart that MCCA is the calling He had for him. God didn't need him to do it, but God knew that Ron needed to be a servant. Ron hasn't looked back since.

Harold Milligan

Volunteer since 2018

Harold had been riding along with Ed O'Brien on MCCA's trips down to Otay Mesa on the Wednesday after the monthly trips. Ed mentioned that once Harold saw the kids in Mexico that Harold would be "hooked like a fish." Ed was not wrong and after getting his passport card, Harold is still going on trips. He rides along with Paul Vela and enjoys the trips and the blessings of fellowship. He continues to be amazed that those MCCA serve thank us when we should be the ones thanking them for the opportunity to serve.

Chris Oelrich

Volunteer since 2016

Chris still feels he's the new guy when he sees the men and women he is serving alongside. Chris loves the trips both the blessings and challenges that may arise. Seeing the need for a Newsletter Editor, Chris has heard the call and has faithfully ensured that MCCA has a newsletter out on a quarterly basis.

Mike Ramirez

Volunteer since 2003

Mike started riding with the great Herm Verhoeven back in 2003 and it's remarkable he's stuck around since. Mike loves the opportunity to serve down in Mexico.

Doug Spoelstra

Volunteer since 2004

Doug grew up knowing what MCCA was, but it wasn't until he rode along with Herm that he found out for himself. He stepped up to drive the trucks of some of the other guys when they couldn't themselves, otherwise he was happy riding along with Jan Van Mouwerik. In 2007 Doug took the leap and bought his own truck and he's been driving regularly ever since.
